Deformat; the Revival of a Long Dead Love
Deformat was a breakcore/gabber/speedcore/noise record label back in the day run by me. And it is returning.
Deformat was a breakcore/gabber/speedcore/noise record label back in the day, run by me. And it is returning.
What Was Deformat?
Deformat was a (mostly web-based) record label run by me back in the early to mid-2000s. It mostly did 3″ CDs and digital releases. It focused mostly on breakcore and noise, but also some speedcore and gabber.
It started more as an outlet for the many people on my highly active forum, IHateBreakcore.com, which was fairly popular at the time in the breakcore scene. I decided to use it as way to release contest winners, friends, etc. Before that, it was a stamp that I put on my own DIY release CDs and Tapes. It has an important spiral for a symbol that has a deep meaning to me.
Deformat was a passion for me; however, it fell to the wayside when my life slipped. I had a lot of issues, and I could not focus on music. The project died, but not fully.
What Will Deformat Be?
Deformat will carry on in much of the same way, although I plan to use it to further my interest in coding. Releasing some VSTs in development (it did this before with the GabberMaster VST, actually), and the tracker I am working on.
It will, of course, release music, this time using Bandcamp for distribution as well as distribution to streaming services. What it will actualize has yet to be seen. I do intend for it to carry on in a way fitting of the original vision, but evolved more to match the time.
Why Now?
There is never a time like now.

Does This Mean This Site is Dead?
Not entirely. Although it will likely get updates less frequently. Although to be honest, I have not made a post in nearly a year. The content here has shifted because my focuses have. I have been working on being the best father I can be, and found a way to turn my passions for art and music into fatherhood.
Because of that, most of my work will continue with Deformat, so please, I would love if you would join our socials there, as well as Noise 4 Tots
Thank you,
